Looking at purely scoring averages was a good starting point, but what if there was a difference in skill between the players in the morning and the afternoon?
Using Junior Golf Scoreboard, we can retrieve the scoring differentials of players from both waves:
-1.276
Average Scoring Differential of Morning Wave
-1.236
Average Scoring Differential of Afternoon Wave
Ok, so the scoring differential for the morning wave was marginally better, lets run another significance test to see if there this is enough of a difference to conclude a skill disparity:
Morning Wave:
x̄1 = -1.276034483
n1 = 58
s1 = 3.196244474
Afternoon Wave:
x̄2 = -1.2355
n2 = 40
s2 = 2.362324963
The P-Value from this significance test was 0.4430741083, meaning there was about a 44% chance the difference in scoring differentials occurred because of random variance. This is still a very large number and is not leading us to any conclusion.
